The illustrations aren't quite as gritty as the ones for Moby Dick, which I did prefer, but maybe that's just a trivial aesthetic perk. But I really enjoyed seeing the Martians and how they were able to pack some of the philosophy of the original into this short book. Highly recommended for kids of all ages as they say.Product details

When I was a kid, my dad would often bring home comic books for my brother and me to read and enjoy. Among these comics were many of the CLASSICS ILLUSTRATED line which combined a great book, rarely changing the story line--unless it was too much for younger readers--and more often than not great illustrations. These comics allowed me to become a reader for a lifetime.
"The War of the Worlds" is an example of these works. The story remains true to H.G. Wells' story and the illustrations are great! This is especially true of the depiction of the Martians as giant octopus-like creatures, so very different from the latest film version which seemed to borrow the aliens from the film "Independence Day". It was an exciting read for a kid and a great trip down memory lane for adults, too. I will buy it soon, so I am not able to say if the digital transfer is good, but if it is, I will buy more of these great books for my Fire since the coloring is essential. I am hoping for a real blast from the past! It should be noted, as with the first review, these comics are great for teaching poor readers to get into reading or, at least, to have some knowledge of the great books.
It has ACTION and things and its really great but it kind of would of been better if there was cliff hanger but it is GREAT AND AWSOME
I teach students who read under grade level and this is a fairly close account to the H. G. Wells story. Color is rich on Fire screen. Price was fabulous!
I loved the Classic Illustrated books as a teenager. This is a well illustrated and smoothly-flowing book. I have greatly enjoyed reading it.
An amazing abridged and illustrated version of this H G Wells classic novel. I have never tired of re-reading the comic for over fifty years.
Terrific I read the earlier version of this when I was a kid. It is amazing with the panels soon. I would highly recommend it.
